Shogun's golf course

GOLF

Shogun features a private one- green, nine-tee golf course in its grounds for guest use. Alternatively, Shogun staff can arrange a day of golf at the Trump International Golf Club on nearby Canouan Island— an 18 hole, 72 par course just 10 minute flight by charter or 45 minute boat trip away. The day package includes fees, cart, and lunch at the Beach Café.

HIKING & WALKING

Several trails are marked for visitors to explore Mustique. Nature hikes are popular with guests to see the beautiful flora and fauna or learn the history of the island going back to the days of the old sugar mills and plantation houses. Parts of the island in the extreme south and north offer a very different landscape from the lush hills, valleys and beaches. A specially produced book on the wildlife of Mustique is available for guests at Shogun.

LIBRARY

While Shogun contains a good selection of books, The Mustique Community Library houses thousands of books and magazines, a special children’s section and several powerful desk top computers. Many guests take out a Mustique Library Card as a memento (for a small fee) of their visit. The librarians are a terrific source of information about everything and everyone on Mustique!

Jetty

MOORING

Mustique’s harbour and jetty is fairly sheltered from seasonal trade winds. Mooring buoys are provided for vessels with draughts up to 15 feet. Large mega-yachts are frequent visitors to Mustique’s Britannia Bay and guests at Shogun have a perfect vantage point – and viewing telescope – from which to inspect these floating palaces.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES

Mustique’s natural beauty, rolling landscape and deserted beaches lends itself to photo opportunities. A booklet is available to guide photographers to the best views. Visitors are requested not to take or distribute photographs of the many celebrities who visit the island. Privacy and discretion has been the mantra on Mustique for over 40 years.

SAILING

The Grenadines are known as a sailor’s paradise. We can arrange for sunset cruises, day trips on powerboats or sailing yachts to the neighbouring exotic Grenadine Islands to visit Petit St. Vincent, Canouan, Tobago Cays, Union, Palm, Mayreau and Bequia. Private chartered cruises are also available. (See also ‘Shogun Powerboat’ under ‘Shogun House’.)

STARS UNDER THE STARS

Weekly open-air movies are shown during high season on Fridays for children and Saturday for adults at the Cotton House Hotel lawn.

SWIMMING

Sites for swimming and snorkeling abound off Mustique’s beaches. The only beach from which swimming is not permitted (it has a dangerous undertow) is Pasture Bay. Some beaches have huge Atlantic rollers; others are a great deal more placid. The most popular beach on Mustique is Macaroni, but others are nearly always deserted. Shogun staff can show you these secret hideaways!

The Mustique Tennis Centre

TENNIS

The Mustique Tennis Centre offers six well-maintained floodlit courts to villa renters and guests between sunrise and 8:30 p.m. Reservations are essential. Resident Tennis Pro, Richard Schaffer and his assistant, Trevor Sam, operate the tennis shop and offer private lessons by appointment. Tournaments and junior/pee-wee camps are available at various times during the year. Shogun staff will happily reserve courts for you and work with The Mustique Company to locate suitable partners, if required.

Shogun Villa renters are offered complimentary use of one or two Kawasaki golf buggy- type vehicles (usually called ‘mules’) which are robust and easy to drive. Additional vehicles and mountain bikes may be rented from Mustique Mechanical Services. Road safety is taken seriously on Mustique. Drinking and driving is not permitted.
